Skills4Retail Lesson Observations in the Czech Republic Provide Valuable Feedback for Further Development

Recent lesson observations in the Czech Republic have offered valuable insight into how the Skills4Retail training materials are being used in real educational settings.
Organised as part of the ongoing development and testing of the Skills4Retail programme, the observations gave project partners the opportunity to see the materials in action, gather feedback from teachers and students, and better understand how the lessons support learning across different educational environments.
Observing Skills4Retail in Higher Education
On 22 April 2026, a lesson observation took place at Silesian University in Karviná, where Skills4Retail has been implemented within a higher education setting.
The session provided an opportunity to observe how the training materials are being used in practice, how students engage with the content, and which elements help to encourage discussion, participation and reflection in the classroom.
Seeing the materials delivered directly to learners allowed the Czech project partners to gain a clearer understanding of how the content supports teaching and learning, as well as where further refinements could help improve the overall experience.
Bringing the Materials into a Secondary School Setting
A few days later, Skills4Retail lessons were also observed in a secondary school environment at Kollárovka.
This observation offered another important perspective on how the materials function with a different learner group and in a different educational context. Participants, including a retail partner from Coop, were able to see how the lessons were structured, how the materials were used during teaching, and how students responded to the content.
The involvement of a retail partner also added value to the observation process, helping to connect the educational experience with the practical needs and expectations of the retail sector.
Using Feedback to Strengthen the Programme
Together, the two observations provided Czech project partners with a broader view of how the Skills4Retail materials perform across both higher education and secondary school settings.
The feedback gathered from these sessions will now help inform the next phase of development. By understanding what works well and where adjustments may be useful, the project can continue to refine the materials and improve their usability across different learning contexts.
This process is an important part of the Skills4Retail approach: developing practical, relevant and adaptable training resources that respond to the needs of learners, educators and the retail sector across Europe.
Supporting the Future of Retail Skills
As the retail sector continues to evolve, education and training providers play a vital role in preparing learners for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
The lesson observations in the Czech Republic mark another valuable step in ensuring that Skills4Retail training materials are not only relevant on paper, but effective in the classroom. By listening to feedback from those directly involved in teaching and learning, the project continues to build a stronger foundation for retail skills development across Europe.
