“Hi, my name is Nick Spiteri Paris. I am the CEO of Bigbon Group. I’ve been in retail for over 15 years now. We started with a single-channel business model, but today we operate an omni-channel model that focuses and centres around the customer experience.
Our sector is currently driven by customer experience, and omni-channel has brought about a significant change, particularly in the digital space. About six years ago, our first major step was the full digitalisation of our inventory. Today, our inventory management is completely digitalised, which led to other adoptions such as IoT, a crucial component in our customer journey both in-store and online. AI plays an important role in managing our stocks and inventory.
The use of this technology, in preparation for future developments, leads us to anticipate that robotics will be the next significant change factor in our industry. All these components revolve around one central theme: customer experience, which remains key for us.
Our visibility, as a result of the COVID-19 period when online shopping was the only option, led to a significant return to brick-and-mortar stores post-COVID. The brick-and-mortar shopping experience is irreplaceable, and customer requirements and expectations have increased as a result.
The interplay between digital and physical shopping experiences is the way forward. This is the future. People are at the core of every organisation, and for us, our people are our biggest differentiator. We put considerable effort into acquiring the best talent available.
Our success lies in the success of each individual within our team. Therefore, during recruitment, we constantly look for people with the right attitude, which remains central to all our hiring decisions. We operate in a very agile environment. The retail market is agile, and we need people who are adaptive, forward-looking, and geared for change.
We seek individuals who can be disruptors in the industry and who can embrace and foster change. If you value your development and career progression, I invite you to consider retail as a potential career path for the future.”
